Polruan is a quaint and historic fishing village overlooking Fowey harbour on Cornwall’s south coast midway between Plymouth and Falmouth. The village is an escape from the hustle and bustle of Fowey, across the harbour and still has a strong community spirit. The village has two good pubs, a coffee shop, post office/store and a village store for all food essentials. All are within a few minutes’ walk of the cottage along (largely) traffic free streets. A pedestrian ferry runs constantly between Polruan and Fowey throughout the year and up to 11pm in high season and is about 2 minutes’ walk from the cottage. The cottage is located in a part of the village with no cars, so it is very peaceful.

Being a deep water port, Fowey harbour does not have large sandy beaches, but some small beaches appear at low tide (see photos). On the Polruan side, both are just minutes’ walk from the cottage.

Access to Polruan is along a single track road which can be busy in summer. The main car park at the top of the hill gets filled, but ‘Waves’ has its own dedicated parking space about 150m from the cottage. You will need to trundle your luggage to/from the car so please bear this in mind when packing. We will provide a permit for you to park free of charge for the duration of your stay. The permit needs to be returned to the cottage for the next guest when you check out.
